To remove irregularity or improve uneven bends place a hardwood piece lengthwise along the bend and hit the bend with increased strength using a heavy duty hammer or mallet.
First mark a bend line and place the sheet metal on the edge of your workbench.
If the metal is still getting scratched up you can either put on a few layers of masking tape or use wood blocks like 2 4 s or something to sandwich the part for bending as you tap away on it with a mallet the wood will be soft enough to not damage the surface as long as there aren t any metal shavings hard things on it.
And finally bend the sheet up by hand to the angle desired.
In some cases as with thicker sheet of metal you may need to use a sheet metal brake to apply your bend.
